Empowering Children through Gardening

The Salida School Gardens: Healthy Food, Healthy Growing, Garden to Cafeteria Program, is a model for food production and education integration into the schools that can be replicated throughout the Arkansas River Valley and shared with other rural communities throughout the state. This program empowers children by involving them in food production. By getting their hands dirty at every stage, they learn that they , too, can grow and harvest their own food at home and with their families.
